HOTEL ZINDEL
Hotel Zindel, our largest project to date, was completed in December 2023. Comprised of twenty-two private rooms, two hostel style bunk rooms, three communal bathrooms, an amenity room, and two patios, we completed a full 6-month interior and exterior renovation. With all new flooring, lighting, fixtures, and furnishings we enhanced the overall ambiance and transformed this historic 1910 boutique hotel into a desirable destination right in the heart of downtown San Diego.
Unique Floor Plans
With several different room layouts, some with kitchenettes and some without, we maintained continuity throughout with dark, botanical wallpaper, custom headboards, and gold accents.
Featuring blackout curtains overlapping privacy curtains, contract grade iron nightstands, and gold wall sconces, our goal was to create a warm, inviting atmosphere while maintaining a modern aesthetic.

Transformed Amenity Room
In the amenity room, we removed the wall dividing the 2 spaces to create one large room complete with a pool table and custom coffee bar. We continued the botanical, modern aesthetic with custom wallpaper, real greenery, and gold fixtures. We incorporated high top tables for guests to work at and soft seating so small groups could enjoy the space all together.
Attached to the amenity room we transformed the communal kitchenette with stainless steel appliances, a new honed marble backsplash, and new cabinets.
Front Patio
With the front patio serving as the guests' first impression of the property, we were determined to make this an unforgettable space.
Our goal to mitigate the noise from the busy street was accomplished by installing a custom designed water feature along the existing exterior staircase. We sourced contract grade outdoor couches, custom pillows, and new market lighting to create a warm ambience to be enjoyed both during the day and into the evening. We installed 4’ fireplaces with brand new gas lines and painted the existing wood deck to compliment the new fireplaces. We also replaced the existing dated black fence with modern wood paneling complimenting the updated exterior.

Back Patio
We turned the back patio, which was essentially an unused space prior to the renovation, into a relaxing spot for guests to work and eat at.
With the new area leveled out by the constructed wood deck, we created a space where guests could escape the bustling Little Italy neighborhood. New market lighting was installed along with fresh landscaping which served as a perfect backdrop for the outdoor dining tables.

A New Work Space
A big part of our vision was to create a functional workspace for travelers to comfortably work from. With huge rounded windows and views of all the incoming planes, we had a custom 18’ floating desk built for guests with seating for 10.
Adding a 6’ wide decorative bookshelf that featured books about San Diego’s history, custom terrariums, and botanically themed decor, we turned the upstairs hallway into not only a functional but beautiful space for guests to enjoy.

Bathrooms
One of the most notable transformations occurred in the 22 bathrooms, 19 of which were located in individual rooms and 3 of which were designated as communal facilities.
We completely revitalized the outdated bathrooms by switching out the existing vanities for modern black cabinets, adding both recessed lighting and changing the vanity lighting, integrating new tiling in all the showers, and incorporating all new brushed gold hardware. We used the same new LVP from the rooms and had custom botanical artwork created.
Hostel Style Bunk Rooms
In addition to the 22 hotel rooms, the 2 hostel style bedrooms downstairs, offering a more economical option for travelers, got a full makeover as well.
Working with our contractor, we had custom triple high bunk beds constructed in the 10 foot tall rooms that had a reading light and an individual outlet for each bunk. In addition to the new beds, each room got lockers for travelers to store their belongings, custom blackout blinds, and individual privacy curtains on each bed.
